Carolyn & Gary Schena
Schena Arts is Husband and Wife team Carolyn and Gary Schena, who had a crazy dream of moving to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and becoming local artists. They did just that, and in ten years they have developed a line of hand crafted pottery and jewelry that has been regionally and nationally recognized and own and operate their retail gallery and studio, Studio 12 on Hatteras Island. Carolyn holds degrees in art and environmental education and Gary in business and accounting. The Schena’s businesses; Studio 12 and Schena Arts turns out were a great marriage of Carolyn and Gary's skills. Carolyn graduated with a degree in art and Master’s in education with years of experience teaching kids in the parks. Gary spent too much time in Manhattan as a CPA working on Wall Street, keeping sane by spending is off time kite surfing. The Schena’s share their life with one adorable daughter, several chickens and some cats. They still love to go back to their home state of New York to visit friends and family but are ever thankful to live on an island in North Carolina where the ocean is a constant source of inspiration!
