Holly Nettles

My family and I moved here from Wilmington, NC in the fall of 2009. The Outer Banks has always been near and dear to me and I feel so lucky to call it home.
I’ve worked in watercolor, oil and collage, but my current medium of choice is acrylic on canvas and panels. I find inspiration everywhere, but particularly in nature. I could paint the marshes, dunes and scenery here every day of the year and greet each day with enthusiasm.
Creative time feels like such a luxury, but also, essential to my true self. I’m happiest when using my creative energy and spending time with my family.
At UNC Chapel Hill, my major was journalism with a secondary concentration in studio art. Since then, I’ve taken many workshops from well-known artists and find joy in painting with other artists, especially plein air.
Art is such an evolution; I’m happy to be along for the ride.
